Frequently Asked Questions
My top priority is to be a responsive and accessible representative for every resident of Midvale. My plan is built on three key pillars: engagement, collaboration, and strategic growth.
First, I will actively engage with our community through city meetings, Community Council engagements, and by attending local events. Hearing your concerns and ideas directly is the most effective way to identify what our city truly needs.
Second, I will collaborate with fellow council members, city staff, and local organizations to find solutions. This includes working closely with our Redevelopment Agency on projects that revitalize our city, such as the ongoing efforts on Main Street. I'll also support initiatives like the Uplift Midvale program, which addresses youth well-being and public safety.
Finally, I am committed to strategic growth that benefits everyone. I will ensure that our city's master plans for transportation, parks, and housing are implemented with the community's long-term needs in mind, creating a safe, vibrant, and prosperous Midvale for all.
As a City Council Member, I will advocate for policies that incentivize preservation, such as grants and low-interest loan programs specifically for historic rehabilitation. Our Redevelopment Agency is already doing great work with programs like the Midvale Main Adaptive Reuse Loan Program, and I will push to expand these initiatives to more properties.
Furthermore, I will support the development of clear, accessible design guidelines that respect the historical integrity of our buildings while allowing for modern functionality. Working with the Planning and Zoning Commission and local stakeholders, we can develop a framework that facilitates easier navigation of the restoration process, ensuring our historic structures remain standing for generations to come. This collaborative approach will ensure our past informs a vibrant, thriving future.
I believe in wise spending and transparency. Our property tax revenue is crucial for funding essential services, such as public safety, our police and fire departments, and maintaining the city's infrastructure, including roads and parks.
While these funds are used effectively for vital services, I am committed to a thorough budget review to ensure every tax dollar is spent as efficiently as possible. We have a transparent budget process, but I will advocate for more community education and a focus on initiatives that directly improve our community’s quality of life. My goal is to maximize the value of our investment in Midvale.
I am running for Midvale City Council to continue strengthening our economy, enhancing safety and well-being, and ensuring every voice is heard in shaping our future. My first priority is championing strategic development across our key growth areas to create jobs, support our diverse community, and boost sales tax revenue through vibrant businesses. Second, I will ensure a safe and accessible Midvale for all residents by enhancing public safety, promoting housing options for all income levels, expanding walking trails and roads, and supporting vital social services. Lastly, I will collaborate with the entire community to maintain a smart, strong budget, positioning Midvale as the sought-after place to live and visit in Salt Lake County.
I believe thoughtful policy-making and strong community partnerships are key to real change, and I’m dedicated to working actively to help Midvale thrive now and for generations to come. I’m committed to preserving what makes Midvale unique while embracing opportunities for progress that improve the quality of life for everyone.
